Micromax is a telecommunications company based in Gurgaon, Haryana, India. It focuses on the manufacture of mobile telephones. It has 23 domestic offices across the country and international offices in Hong Kong, USA and Dubai. Presently, the company has 500 employees. Micromax Informatics Limited has announced its foray into Maldivian telecom space through an exclusive partnership with Sense Wood Maldives (Pvt) Ltd.
Micromax is the 12th largest handset manufacturer in the world.With an in-depth understanding of rapidly changing consumer preferences, coupled with the use of advanced technologies, Micromax has been able to differentiate itself from the competitors through innovation and design. The company includes 14 locations: Hong Kong, Bangladesh, Nepal, Sri-Lanka, Maldives, UAE, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Qatar, Oman, Afghanistan and Brazil.

History:  

Micromax made its debut in 1991, but it has only become well known in the past few years. The company entered the Indian cell phone handset market in March 2008. Within six months, it had won a market share of 0.59%.
Micromax has seen a continued rise in market share since that time and is now the largest Indian domestic mobile handsets company, in terms of units shipped during the quarter ended March 31, 2010 and the third largest mobile handset seller in India as of March 31, 2010. On March 31, 2010, the company registered the market share of 6.24% for that quarter, which grew from 0.59% in September 2008.
On July 28, 2011, Micromax had withdrawn its 4.66 billion rupees (about $106 million) initial public offering(IPO) due to volatile market conditions. The withdrawal was recommended by its board to allow the company to focus on new product launches and product development.

Micromax MX400R:

Micromax launched its new pocket 3G wireless router going by the name of MMX400R on 4 May 2011.[10] The wireless device costs Rs. 4999 INR in the market and can connect up to 5 Wi-Fi users and 1 USB user at a time. The dimension of its size is 95.5mm x 51mm x 14.8mm and weighs 60gms.
This router can download at speeds up to 7.2Mbit/s and has a battery life of 4 hours with a standby time of 20 hours. It works on both Mac and Windows. It has a SIM card and MicroSD card slot and a micro USB slot. The device also has a security access for safer browsing and is operating system independent.

Micromax entered the World of Tablet Industry by Launching Micromax Funbook on 3 April 2012, An Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich Tablet with 7" Capacitive Display, 1.2 GHz Cortex A8 Processor with Dual Mali 400 MP GPU, 4 GB Flash Storage and 512 DDR3 RAM. Tablet is powered by 2800mAH Battery with a browsing time of 5 hours . it also features 0.3 MP Front Camera, HDMI Connectivity and Internet Access via Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n and 3G USB Dongle and a "Made in India" Tag . It is eerily similar to the Chinese tablet Ployer Momo 9, which makes people wonder why has it been provided with a mini USB port instead of Micro USB.it is currently Manufactured by Simmtronics Semiconductors Limited at Roorkee, Uttarakhand, India.

The Micromax has now also come up with a 10-inch version of its Funbook tablet dubbed as Funbook Pro. It runs on the Android v4.0 OS, featuring a larger 10.1-inch capacitive multi-touch display with a resolution supported of up to 102 x 600 pixels. It houses a 1.2 GHz Cortex A8 processor and coupled with 1 GB of RAM for even smoother multi-tasking experience, Mali 400 GPU for handling graphics and bundled with 8 GB of internal storage. The most attractive upgrade in the Funbook Pro is just doubled up 5600 mAh battery that allows long lasting performance but, still it misses native 3G support and allows high-speed internet access ony via external 3G data dongle (only Tata Photon) or either using Wi-Fi.
